About Us

Our Vision

The vision for Great Beginnings Early Learning Center is to be the best and most trusted Nursery & Preschool in the Washington metropolitan area where children are nurtured, trained and equipped for the great future ahead of them.

Our Mission

Our Mission is to provide early learners with the tools to learn sharing, compassion, patience, honesty, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. We work closely and collectively with our early learners in partnership with the parents or guardians to prepare them for entry into Kindergarten. Each child’s individual talents, skills and abilities are nurtured in a loving and compassionate environment. Learning is encouraged through art, science, language, math, recreational play, individual & group dynamics and in the active engagement of the mind, fine motor skills and creativity of your early learner. We offer choices of developmentally appropriate activities and seek to foster a love of learning as they play, learn and explore the world around them.

Who We Are

We are a private, family owned and operated Christian Nursery & Preschool licensed by the Virginia Department of Social Services and registered with the Commonwealth of Virginia as well as the City of Alexandria. Our center focuses on the integral development of children from the ages of 6 weeks to 5 years old with the core belief that a great beginning or foundation is the sure path to a great future. We ensure this by teaching them our core values of compassion, patience, honesty, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. We utilize the A Beka Christian Curriculum as part of our daily lesson plans and all our classes have a Bible activity each day.

Our Staff

Our Staff consist of individuals who are creative, patient, compassionate, kind and possess an ability to give and follow directives from the Director as well as a strong desire to impact the growth and development of the children in our care.

Our Management Team is here to answer any questions you may have about Great Beginnings, your child’s progress in school and your needs as a parent. Our goal is to make this educational environment both stimulating and enriching for your early learner as well as to partner with families as children play, learn and explore their capacities to develop new skills, reach and  exceed their developmental milestones while enjoying a school where they are valued, cared for and encouraged.

The Teaching & Care Teams  are responsible for organizing and leading activities; engaging children in activities including reading, math, science, the ABEKA curriculum, games, arts & crafts, songs & dance and other activities designed to support their meeting and exceeding developmental and educational milestones. They meet with parents and provide daily logs of children’s development and activities within the classroom and center as a whole. Parent Teacher conferences are conducted in the Spring and the Fall to review your child’s progress.

All Staff members from top to bottom meet and exceed the requirements set forth by the State of Virginia and the Department of Social Services for direct supervision of children in a childcare group setting. We also ensure that our staff are annually trained and re-certified in 1st Aid, CPR, AED and Daily Health Observation. Pre-hire and continuing screenings include verification of credentials and references, medical clearance, criminal background checks and Child Protective Services checks.
